Biggest Luxury Investments in 2014

December 31st, 2014 Last year except Bálna cultural center no big investments were finished, but in 2014 several similar projects were realized or were begun to be realized.

The list below introduces some of them, including finished ones and ones still in process.

 

1.      Reconstruction of Buda Castle

Reconstructions of Buda Castle were begun in November. Besides renovating the building complex Castle District gets new functions as well. An underground garage is to be built on its western side, along with the counterpart of the former equestrian center above it. The National Széchényi Library is to be moved elsewhere. Total costs of the reconstructions are expected to be around HUF 200 billion.

 

2.      Budapest Museum Quarter

Within the confines of Liget Budapest project 5 new museums (the Ethnographic Museum, the Hungarian Museum of Architecture, the New National Gallery, the House of Hungarian Music and Photo Museum Budapest) will be placed at the edge of City Park (Városliget) and replacing buildings to be knocked down. According to the plans the constructions will be started in 2016 and finished by 2018.

 

3.      Conference Center at the Danube

A new conference center is planned to be built in the Hungarian capital in the next 4 years, which can accommodate 4-5 thousand people. According to the plans the conference center will be built on the 13-thousand-square-meter area next to Palace of Arts, at the banks of the river Danube.

 

4.      Ferenc Puskás Stadium

The original stadium was opened in 1953, and the decision about its reconstruction was made in 2011. The new stadium will be home to a 200-thousand-square-meter soccer stadium and a six-line running track. The cost of the constructions is HUF 90-100 billion.

 

5.      Metro Line No. 4

The forth subway line of Budapest was opened in March 2014. The constructions of metro line no. 4 were begun in 2006. Two stations of the line, the one at Fővár tér and the one at Szent Gellért tér won the first place on the competition of an architecture website.
